Inspiring learning for a fairer future

On the Land We Stand

The aim of the project was to develop a relevant global citizenship resource for Scottish schools which would engage students with some of the land issues which have faced rural communities in Scotland and continue to face rural communities in the developing world today, and equip teachers to facilitate their learning and engagement with these issues.

This project was developed by Highland One World with the support of Oxfam and Christian Aid and input from Highland Schools.

Using the Highland Clearances and modern day land grabs, the resource helps learners to explore issues of power, rights, justice and sustainability.

On the Land We Stand can help teachers to fulfil the spirit of Learning for Sustainability through the development of global awareness and active citizenship
